After its successful launch in many Asian markets like Malaysia and India, Hyundai which is a Korean company decided to launch it in Pakistan. Hyundai Santro was not hugely marketed in Pakistan and the company relied to on its “above the line” (ATL) advertisement in neighboring India.
Below the line (BTL) marketing is being done by the showroom owners and the exclusive dealers in various cities in Pakistan. The car has not got any specialized features if we compare it to the international market but it certainly has a lot to offer in the Pakistani market. A huge gap of buying power exists in Pakistan between Suzuki Mehran and Toyota Vitz, Suzuki Swift, Chevrolet Joy etc. Hyundai has tried to explore this gap and capture this market of huge potential.
Car is available in six different trims having different prices according to their specification. Overall it is an acceptable 1000 cc car with a good A/C, power windows, strong suspension, a 5-speed manual transmission and a good urban look.
It certainly suits the needs of small Pakistani urban families who don’t have large parking lots in their houses and offices. It has a nice mileage and runs well on CNG making it further a good choice for many. This compact car is seen running on Pakistani roads everywhere nowadays.
We may conclude that this car has achieved a place for itself in its category. But there is need for the improvements in newer models. It has a high back shape which makes it a bit shaky and uncomfortable on the rough roads. It has not got the best of road grips as well.
